its fashion week in nyc

im having a diffuclt time getting into these new fashion trends lately. maybe its because ive been living in richmond for a few years, or perhaps im getting old. either way, when i walk through the city streets, i am repeatedly boggled by some of the outfits people parade around in.

for one, the belt over the t-shirt thing. see, when i think of a belt, i see it for its purpose, to hold up those "i just dropped a waist size" pants. but now everyone wears them high on their waist over their tops and i find it really quite awkward looking. i mean, yeah, maybe a beaded belt or something meant to hang low on your waist with a long, pretty shirt, but a standard issue belt under the boob?

ah, and more on belts, whats with the multiple belts? i know that must be uncomfortable. why, someone please tell me why, are girls putting on 3-4 belts around their waists. i hate wearing just one.

the other thing is this whole leggings thing. ladies, some of us are just not meant to wear skin tight cotton pants, myself included. yes, under a dress on a cold day or with the above said long shirt with a cute beaded belt, but not with a super short rock shirt. i think its just rude to show off your coochies like that all around town. keep that look in dance class.

and then there is the famous little ruffle skirts over the short leggings. what? are you serious? unless your in fourth grade, these just dont work.

speaking of skirts, i think that some ladies need to recognize the length of their mini skirts. theres a fine line between cute and slutty. if the bottom of your skirt lines up with the bottom of your ass, its too short.

heres my favorite, the tank tops or camis over the tshirt. what the...?!? im all about layering but this just looks ass backwards to me. i...i...i dont even know what to say about this.

i dont pretend to be any sort of fashion icon, i mean look at me. through each daily dress capade, i end up with the same thing, jeans, tshirts and flip flops. thats just how i roll.
