i know everyone expects me to comment on the mets disaster, but for the moment..they are dead to me and, to be honest, i don't feel like getting upset right now.
in more lighter news, lb and i went to see the mountain goats the other night and it was absolutely fantabulous!!! i haven't been to a show in such a long time and who better way to bring me back than john darnielle. the show was at studio b in brooklyn, which is in a strange and scary area of greenpoint..or maybe it was williamsburg. all the hipsters were in full gear and out and about, so its hard to tell. a nyway, the clubwas plopped right in the middle of creepy warehouses. i'll admit, i was scared. as soon as we got in (after waiting on line for a bajillion hours), i sucked down my first tanq and tonic. yum yum. it was worth every cent of the 7 bucks i paid for it.
heres a little peek at the encore (Palmcorder Yajna)
it took awhile to get over the obnoxious crowd, but the show was perfect. i dont understand why do people feel the need to scream out requests and stupid bullshit during shows. shut up and let them play, your annoying me!!!
oh and did i mention that after this little diddy, they covered none other than ace of base. pure genius!! it was perfectly fun ending to a perfectly fun night. lb and i left after that (because can it really get any better than jd singing "i saw the sign") and some chick yelled at us for leaving. she was all like "they have one more song, where are you going?!?!". we answered appropriately by saying "we have a baby to take care of bee-yoth!". and we did.
i missed my little baby soo much while i was away just that one night. i knew that she was in the good hands of daddy trey and uncle charles williams, but i just missed her!! and might i add that, they did a super good job of taking care of my darling. i came home and she was bathed, fed and sleeping like an angel. good job boys!!!
anyway, the flood gates have been opened. as soon as i got home i started looking at who was playing where and i want tickets to everything. i am especially interested in seeing bright eyes in november at radio city. and then theres surfjan stevens and the ravonettes and spoon and...well, it looks like kelli is back to her old self!!! i cant wait until shaela rose is old enough to come to shows with me.
oh, you want a shaela rose update? sure...
my little miss was baptized over the weekend and she looked beautiful in her little christening gown. this particular gown was worn by my mother, myself, all my sisters and her godmother. pretty cool, huh? she was a perfect angel all day while the other kids were screaming and crying. thats more than i can say for the rest of my crazy family.
see angel here......
now, i haven't been in church for along time but i was surprised at how much it has changed. i went to catholic school for awhile and my father is a weird born again, so i spent most of my sunday mornings in church, and i always remembered it as a formal, sacred, ceremonial thing, and well, the priest at the baptism was comparing God to reality tv. really? REALLY? i cant actually remember what the metaphor was implying to because, i'm not exactly sure it had any relevance at all, but it was bizarre. simply bizarre.
go catholics go!!

why did no one have a you tube clip of "the sign"? that was freakin' awesome! i need these bootleg filmers to step up their game, please...
oh, and can i mention that the girl who yelled at us for leaving was all dolled up like belinda carlisle circa 1986(at least in my mind she was) and i wanted to be like, "this is a mountain goats show! not an eighties prom!" you know, it would be one thing if one person decided to dress like that, but when the entire hipster core decides that it's bring back the eighties time, well... not really all that impressive.
